6 Things You Can Do To Start Your Day Positively

How do you start your morning? Do you want a change in your morning routine but find it hard to do so? Early risers usually have a more proactive mindset. They do not wait around for the day to tell them what to do, they make the day happen.

Therefore, it is well known that most early risers are usually the most successful people. Hence the term, the early bird catches the worm. The key here is, we need to have something to anchor our day with, and in this article, we will talk about the 6 things you can do to begin your day positively and productively.

1.Make Your Bed

Make your bed, yes, you heard that right. Does it bore you already? But hear me out, it is simple yet it’s something that gives you the feeling that your day has started. When Your space feels more organized, your thoughts, in turn, get more organized, and therefore you can be more focused and productive with the tasks of the day.

2. Attitude of Gratitude

Start your day with the attitude of gratitude. All you need is 10 minutes of your day, it doesn’t matter how you do it, regardless of religion or beliefs, give thanks for the things that you have.

There are so many things to be grateful about, you can start by thinking of just 5 simple things, such as, for the perfect weather outside, that interesting book you read, the sound of your cat’s purrs. When you start your day off with a grateful heart it would shift you to a happier mood and change your outlook in life positively.

3. Have Breakfast

I know many people who have the habit of skipping breakfast because they just do not have the time for it. But do you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Why so? Because the period between your last meal and waking up the next day is usually the longest period your body goes without fuel.

Take your time to make yourself a healthy breakfast that includes food that has high nutritional values, like vegetables, fruits, grains, eggs.  You may even prep your meal the night before to save yourself time in the morning. Avoid greasy or any high sodium food as it would cause you to feel bloated, uneasy, and sluggish throughout the day.

4. Get Moving

Exercising helps us produce endorphins which is the chemical responsible to make us feel happy and relaxed. There are a lot of benefits when you start your day off by setting aside time for exercise. This habit helps to instill self-discipline in yourself and it also helps to give us a mental boost to feel more focused and ready to take on the day, besides the mental benefit of it, you also get to be in shape and healthy.

Put on a pair of joggers, slip on your running shoes, and go for a morning run. If don’t like runs, you can also roll out your yoga mat, and start with some simple exercises or dance while playing upbeat music.

5. Plan Out and Visualize Your Day

Visualizing is such an underutilized yet powerful tool that could create new beliefs in yourself. How you can do this is to simply set 10 mins aside, find a quiet space without any disturbance, close your eyes and think about how you would like your ideal day to be or what it feels like to have achieved a long-term goal. Always visualize the best possible outcomes.

Put in as much detail into the visualization and feel the feelings of fulfillment. Doing this every day will not only bring you closer to achieving your goals, but it would also make you feel motivated and excited for what the future holds.

6. Avoid The News

The next time you wake up, avoid watching the news. You might think that watching the news will keep you updated on the current affairs of the world, it could be detrimental to your mental state. Most news is being delivered in ways that are slightly exaggerated to create drama and tension.

Starting your day with negative news can put you in a downward spiral of negative emotions and ruin your day. Instead, watch something light-hearted like a funny cat video that would make you laugh the first thing in the morning or you can read a comic article or inspiring stories that you can find in books such as “the chicken soup for the soul”.

A small change in your daily routine goes a long way to shift your day for the better. These are 6 things you can do tomorrow to start your day positively.
